As part of its mission to "create jobs, and therefore economic well-being, through the promotion of Georgia as a business location or a tourist destination," the Georgia Department of Economic Development (formerly the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism) has produced many high quality photographs and slides for use in publications, brochures, and multimedia presentations. Approximately 50,000 of these slides were transferred to the Georgia Archives for permanent preservation in 2005. The images in this online collection are a representative sample of the slides now in the archives. The images have been arranged in a self-indexing fashion, just as they were arranged by the Department of Economic Development. They are grouped by geographic area and then by location, such as city, county, state park, or historic site.
