Georgia Power Photograph Collection Georgia Power Photograph Collection

A part of Georgia Power Company's business in the 1930s and 1940s was to provide lighting for businesses. Sometimes, photographs were taken before and after installation to show the dramatic improvement made by the new lighting scheme. Many photographs were published in the company's magazine, Bright Spots. This collection of black and white photographs from Georgia Power shows the interiors and exteriors of many businesses in Georgia in the 1930s and 1940s and a few outside the state. Available information includes the type of business establishment; the type of shot (interior or exterior); the name of the business; its street address; and the city in which it was located. Not all photographs include identification. Brackets indicate information supplied from other sources such as Bright Spots, city directories, or Web sites.
