[handwritten text: The Athens Woman's Club met by invitation at Mrs E A Crawford's January 28th 1901. a full attendance being present. Meeting called to order by President, Mrs Lipscomb. ]

[handwritten text: After the payment of Annual dues, the minutes of last meeting were read and approved. ]

[handwritten text: Annual report of Treasurer made and approved. ]

[handwritten text: Reports from Standing Committees responded to as follows: Educational Committee, Miss Watt: Library Committee, Miss McPherson: Calendar Committee, Miss Woodberry: Philanthropy Committee, Miss Hull: Industrial Committee, Mrs. Chas. Griffith. ]

[handwritten text: After a well-pointed and rousing speech from Mrs. Lipscomb, the retiring President, the Annual election of officers proceeded as follows: A nominating committee was selected from the various sections -- with Mrs Billups Phinizy as Chairman. The Committee withdrew for deliberation. Upon their return Mrs. Phinizy reported results as follows: President -- Mrs. M. A. Lipscomb.

Report by Mrs. White on Athens Edition of "Southern Woman," Club paper published in Atlanta. Enthusiastically received. Papers and advertisements for same, secured. ]

[handwritten text: The last general meeting of The Athens Woman's Club met at the residence of Mrs H C White, May [blank] with a full attendance present. No particular business on hand except the discussion of the meeting of the Federation of Clubs in Athens during the Fall. ]

[handwritten text: The first week in November was considered the most propitious time. Corresponding Secty [Secretary] requested to communicate with Mrs Granger (?) about it. ]

[handwritten text: Discussion as to number of delegates to be invited. Moved that the President and two (2) delegates from each club be asked. Carried. Discussion of organized work, and question of a Sheltering Arms considered. No decision. Discussion as to inviting some distinguished [deleted text (overstrike): guest ] [added text: Club ] woman from a distance to be present as the guest of the Athens Woman's Club during meeting. Moved that President, Mrs Lipscomb, be appointed to select such an one. Carried. Discussion of Music and Art Section, resulting in appointment of Mrs H C White Chairman, and Mrs J F Hart, Sect'y [Secretary] of such section. Business meeting adjourned. ]

[handwritten text: [added text (appears to be different ink and hand): 1901 September ] There was a called meeting of the Athens Woman's Club on the afternoon of Sept [September] 17th. in the Library of Lucy Cobb. ]

[handwritten text: Mrs. M. A. Lipscomb president, in the chair. The object of meeting was to confer with Mrs. J. Lindsay Johnson Pres. [President] Ga. F. W. C and to organize committees for entertainment of State Convention to meet in Athens Nov [November] 6th. ]

[handwritten text: Mrs. Johnson was unavoidably detained, and club proceeded to transact the business on hand, and perfect Convention Committees. ]

[handwritten text: Miss Buttel reports a collection of books on hand for Library Com. [Committee] ]

[handwritten text: Mrs. H. C. White reports, as chairman of Music Section the inability of her section to unite with State Music Com. [Committee] and Lucy Cobb at Exposition. ]

[handwritten text: Moved by Miss Woodbury to reconsider action of Club agreeing to entertain president and two delegates from each Club at Convention, and to substitute for "two" "one" and insert "or alternates" after "our delegate." Carried. ]

[handwritten text: [added text (appears to be different ink and hand): October ] The first regular meeting of the Athens Woman's Club was held in the Lucy Cobb Library Tuesday afternoon Oct [October] 15. since the summer adjournment. Mrs Lipscomb, president, in the chair. ]

[handwritten text: Minutes of called meeting, Sept 17, read and approved. Treasurer's Report accepted No report from Cor. Sect'y [Corresponding Secretary]. ]

[handwritten text: Chairmen of the several committees on Convention entertainment reported ]

[handwritten text: On motion, it was ordered that the Com. [Committee] on post office and committee [illegible text] should be authorized to purchase all needed stationary & c. [et cetera] ]

[handwritten text: An invitation from the faculty of the University was read inviting the Athens Woman's Club and State Federation Convention to visit the University during its session. Accepted with thanks the President appointed Mrs. Young and Mrs Dorsey a Com. [Committee] to extend resolution of thanks to the Daughters of the Confederacy for their courtesy in arranging a luncheon for the Convention of the Ga. F. W. C ]

[handwritten text: [added text (appears to be different ink and hand): 1902 January ] The regular annual meeting of the Athens Woman's Club was held Tuesday afternoon 4 P.M Jan [January] 14. in the Lucy Cobb Reading room. Mrs Lipscomb, president, in the chair. ]

[handwritten text: Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Treasurer's report for the year read and received. This report showed all obligations met, all Convention expenses paid and a balance on hand of about $18 ]

[handwritten text: The Corresponding Secretary reports all letters answered, and that the routine notices of the Club had been sent out on time, regularly. ]

[handwritten text: The president, Mrs Lipscomb, made a short address to the club, congratulating them upon the success and progress and influence of the club and thanked them for the honor of serving them and expressed great appreciation of their support. She especially thanked Mrs H. C. White for her splendid assistance during the Convention of the Ga. F. W C. Mrs Lipscomb declines firmly but with great appreciation all tenders of nomination as president. ]

[handwritten text: Nominations were then declared in order for officers for the coming year. The President appointed as a nominating committee, Mrs J. P. Campbell, Chairman, Mrs W. F. Dorsey, Mrs Eula B. Simth, Miss Woodberry. ]

[handwritten text: The dates of meeting were announced to be a general meeting of the entire club the first Thursday in each month, to be conducted by some one [someone] of the sections Each of the sections meet separately at same hour the third Thursday of the month. The Shakespear Section meets on the evenings of the Second and Fourth Thursdays. ]

[handwritten text: It was moved and adopted to change the constitution (unanimous consent having been given) so as to have five sections instead of three. The two new sections being Shakespear and Fine Arts. ]
