The exhibit was a collaboration between Jeffersonville High School (Jefferson, Twiggs County, Georgia) and Danville High School (Danville, Twiggs County and Wilkinson County, Georgia). Corn, cotton, and vetch are on display along with information about the soil improvement program's results. Vocational education such as this was made possible by the 1917 Smith-Hughes Act, named after co-writers Hoke Smith (former Georgia governor) and Dudley Hughes. A project of the Digital Library of Georgia in association with the Middle Georgia Archives as part of Georgia HomePLACE. This project is supported with federal LSTA funds administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Georgia Public Library Service, a unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. |
