| Title: | Reconstructed East Washington Street |
| Date: | 1936 May 6 |
| Description: | Reconstructed East Washington Street, May 6, 1936. Photograph showing the task of rebuilding Gainesville after the tornado of April 6, 1936. The project seemed a hopeless task. The city had been over a hundred years in the building and was reduced to shambles in less than five minutes. With coordinated efforts of the citizens, the clean-up and rebuilding was rapid. This photograph was taken exactly one month after the tornado. Caption: "Hall County Library Photo Collection (0170) Gainesville, Georgia." Digitized by: Digital Techniques, Inc. Electronic version made available through a federal Library Services and Technology Act Grant and Georgia Public Library Services. |
