A class action suit brought by Hosea Williams, John Lewis, and Amelia Boynton against Governor George C. Wallace and the State of Alabama concerning the protection of marchers as they walked from Selma to Montgomery on behalf of Negro voter registration in Alabama. The march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 was a pivotal event in the history of the Civil Rights Movement.
