Search Types
The Georgia Government Publications site provides three searching methods to allow users to choose the method that best fits their searching needs: 1) basic search and 2) advanced search and 3) browse search. All searching methods allow users to access contents of individual Georgia government publications.
Basic Search: Locating Items
When using the simple search box located in the left navigation bar, you are searching for "specific documents." The Web site's search engine requires that each word that you enter in the search box appear in a record for it to be displayed as part of your search results.

You can also use the boolean operators "or" and "not" in your search strategy. Any time you use "or" or "not" in the search box, the query will be interpreted in this way.
Currently, the DLG's search engine does not provide for phrase searching using quotation marks.
To improve your search results, you may wish to use truncation to search for variant forms of a word or browse the indexes to find keywords, titles, notes or table of contents represented in the Georgia Government Publications database of item records.
Using the advanced search will also give you more control over your search.
Advanced Search: Locating Items
The Advanced Search allows you to narrow your query by searching multiple areas of the item descriptions at once by using boolean operators and by limiting by date. For more detailed information on using the advanced search, see the Advanced Search help page.
Browse Search: Locating Items
The Browse Search allows you view "windows" into the phrase or keyword indexes. Browsing a phrase index will show you multi-word entries. Browsing a keyword index will show you single word entries.
