summary: Letter dated January 25, 1852 from Porter King, lawyer, future judge and Perry County representative to the Alabama legislature, to Callie Lumpkin, daughter of Joseph Henry Lumpkin and King's future wife, apologizing for not finishing his last letter. He included a dispatch to explain why he was unable to complete the letter, (perhaps it was due to the death of his brother-in-law John R. Goree), but the dispatch no longer exists.
