summary: This letter, possibly dated March 10, 1887, written by Porter King, lawyer, future judge and Perry County representative to the Alabama legislature, to his wife Callie King, daughter of Joseph Henry Lumpkin, deals with several items. First, King requests that Callie should choose a plot of land. He presents her a grid of the land labeled with the price per yard as well as per acre. In his second order of business, King explains to his wife that he has been called to attend the town council. He asks Callie if she would come to town and bring him a clean shirt for the morning.
