Sunday Evening
Selma --
My dear wife,

Here I am, would to goodness I were with my darling -- such weather, rain, rain -- the stage leaves in a few minutes -- been detained by high water -- I have just time to say to you my sweet love, I am well -- I will reach father about day-light [daylight] in the morning -- I will write you tomorrow in [unclear text: ex tenso] -- My dear Callie, take care of your dear self for our three sakes -- sweet wife how t'would [it would] thrill me to clasp my dear darling in my arms -- little Paul bless his soul, how is he?

Callie, dear Callie adieu -- Love to all from your fondly attached

[Signed] Porter
