Description: Undated letter probably from 1853 from Sallie (Baxter) Bird, wife of Hancock County plantation-owner Edgeworth Bird, to Callie King, daughter of Joseph Henry Lumpkin and wife of Porter King, about her recent illness and an enclosed gift of a shirt for King's daughter, Callie, who, born in 1853, died later that year. Bird feels unable to travel until she is better. One of her children also has the measles.
