Description: Aerial view of the construction of the Samfinn at the J.A. Jones Construction Company shipyard in Brunswick, Georgia. A large mobile crane is lifting shipbuilding materials over the top of the ship. Scaffolding surrounds the body of the ship. Workers are visible on the dock, on the elevated ramp and walkway adjacent to the ship, as well as on the ship itself. One of the "SAM" ships lent to Great Britain under lend lease terms, the Samfinn was the thirty-third ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Its keel was laid February 14, 1944. The ship was launched March 31, 1944 and delivered April 13, 1944.
