Description: This is a letter written by Colonel Gideon Morgan to Colonel Return J. Meigs, U.S. Agent to the Cherokees, on February 4, 1814. Morgan gives an account of troop movements and engagements during the Creek War (1813-1814) in which his Cherokee troops allied themselves with General Andrew Jackson's American forces against the Creeks.
