Title: Letter [with copies of affidavits] 1814 Aug. 6, Hartford, Pulaski County, [Georgia to Governor of Georgia] Peter Early, Milledgeville / Allen Tooke
Date: 1814 Aug. 6
Description: This document is a letter from Lieutenant Colonel Allen Tooke of the Georgia Militia to Governor of Georgia Peter Early (1813-1815) enclosing two copies of affidavits, dated August 6, 1814. The letter and affidavits relate to an incident in Pulaski County, Georgia in which John Rabun was attacked and wounded by three Indians who were hidden in his field. The Indians then allegedly plundered the houses of John Bolling and (Isham Frohock ?), neighbors of Rabun. Colonel Tooke reports that he has ordered a detachment to pursue the suspected Indians. It is likely that these Indians were from the Upper Creeks, as Tooke mentions that one of their "red sticks" was found at the scene of the crime.
