Title: Letter [with enclosures] 1842 Feb. 24, Lowndes County, [Georgia to] Charles J. McDonald, [Governor of Georgia] / Levi J. Knight
Date: 1842 Feb. 24
Description: Levi J. Knight in Lowndes County, Georgia writes to Georgia Governor Charles J. McDonald on February 24, 1842 to inform McDonald that he had Captains John J. Johnson and Solomon W. Morgan submit rolls and swear to the amount of service reported. Knight encloses copies of the captains' affidavits and a copy of a letter, dated February 15, 1842, from Knight to McDonald wherein Knight urges the governor to keep up protection on the Georgia frontier. He contends that the "country is still annoyed by the Indians" and that signs of Indian activity are common.
