| Title: | [Affidavits] of Robert Ellison, Joseph James, and William Ellison, Jackson County, Georgia, 1817 May 15 / sworn to before Jno. [i.e. John] Treadwell |
| Date: | 1817 May 15 |
| Description: | This document contains two affidavits, both dated May 15, 1817 and both sworn to before John Treadwell, Justice of the Peace. In the first affidavit, Robert Ellison and Joseph James state that James Morris and John Camp, both of Jackson County, Georgia, are living with their families across the boundary line on Indian territory. In the second affidavit, William Ellison testifies that Thomas Trammill is also living across the line. Both statements indicate that the accused men have been making improvements on the land and are in violation of state laws aimed at preventing such trespasses on Indian land. Document ID: tcc828.
