Description: This is a financial account of monies owed to Daniel McMurphy by the State of Georgia for his salary and accumulated expenses in service to the state as an Indian agent. McMurphy claims he is owed fifty pounds for his salary from January 1782 to January 1783 and reimbursement for several purchases. The purchases include a horse given to an Indian in return for one that was stolen by whites, potatoes for the Creek Indians, and lead for the Tallassee (also Tallasee, Talasee, Tallassie) King . Also included is a sworn statement made by McMurphy to Georgia State Auditor John Wereat, certifying the accuracy of the account, dated February 7, 1784.
