| Description: | This is a letter from North Carolina Congressman James Graham to William Holland Thomas, dated September 7, 1834. Graham answers Thomas's inquiry regarding recent treaty negotiations between the United States and certain Cherokee leaders. Graham explains that Congress never ratified the treaty because Principal Chief John Ross alleged that it was fraudulent. Graham also discusses the banking situation as well as state elections.
