|Description:||Simmons-Hanie home. Photograph of the Simmons-Hanie home, 715 Simmons Street N.W. William Benson Simmons bought five acres from E. B. Gower and built a home around 1878. The original building was a white frame, two story structure. The 1885 tornado destroyed all except the foundation of two rooms. A four room frame house was built and other rooms added later. A Simmons daughter married J. T. Hanie, and their descendents lived in the house for many years.|
