Description: Gainesville tornado, April 1936. The tornado that struck Gainesville on April 6, 1936 brought complete paralysis to the business district. Not even a spool of thread nor a pair of socks could be purchased on the Public Square for more than forty-eight hours afterward. Photograph taken in April, 1936.
