Description: Image of a demolished Atlanta, Georgia railroad depot. In 1864 William T. Sherman destroyed this depot by explosion during his attack on Atlanta. Part of a brick wall stands on the left, and the roof has collapsed onto the remains of the structure. A tree stands in the foreground. The railroads in Atlanta were essential for transporting supplies to the Confederate armies and were thus a target for Sherman's forces.
