<dc:description>LaGrange, 1895. Home of Blount C. and Sarah Coleman Ferrell. The house was built in the early 1840s. Mrs. Ferrell planned and planted gardens which were quite famous. The gardens showed an Italian Renaissance influence and were known as Ferrell's Gardens or The Terraces. Mrs. Ferrell died in 1903 and her husband in 1908. About 1912 Fuller E. Callaway, Sr. purchased the estate. The home was removed and a Roman villa was constructed which complemented the gardens. The home of the Callaways is known as Hills and Dales.</dc:description>
