Principal Chief (1828-1866 : Ross) Cherokee Indians Copy of a letter dated January 19, 1866 from John Ross, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, to a publisher in Philadelphia named Mr. Rice. Ross apologizes for the delay in sending a manuscript written by Reverend Headley for submission in a publication called Indian Biography.
