<dc:description>This document is a letter from Robert Grierson to General David B. Mitchell, U.S. Agent for Indian Affairs, dated November 29, 1820. Grierson describes recent conflicts with Chief William McIntosh and the Big Warrior, both Creek Indian leaders, who have made moves to strip him of his slaves. The issue is complicated by the involvement of Grierson's two eldest sons who intend to work with the Creek leaders to dispossess him and the younger Grierson children of their property. Grierson also describes the treachery of an overseer, Mr. (Bats ?), to whom a number of his daughter's slaves were entrusted, only to be sold out from under the family.</dc:description>
