<dc:description>This is a letter from Henry Winslow in Wilkes County, Georgia to Colonel James Madison (later President of the U.S. 1809-1817), in Orange County, Virginia. Winslow reports to Madison on the escalation of Cherokee violence in the area, mentions the alleged murder of two men by the Cherokees on Cedar Creek, and indicates that the citizens are desirous of a war. Winslow also states that a Cherokee trader recently informed him that a group of nearly 250 Cherokees had joined an unnamed Indian nation to the north in their battles with General (Charles ?) Scott and suffered great losses.</dc:description>
