<dc:description>This document is a letter, dated April 21, 1822, from Thomas W. Cobb, U.S. Representative from Georgia, to George Troup, later governor of Georgia (1823-1827). Cobb informs Troup that the Congress has approved the most recent treaty with the Creek Indians (probably the Treaty of Mineral Springs, 1821, that followed the Treaty of Indian Springs, 1821, and related to claims against the Creeks). Cobb mentions the role of Judge Hugh L. White, from Tennessee, and the effort to secure a provision relative to the special treatment reserved for the McIntosh Indians (those in support of Chief William McIntosh). A postscript appears at the end of the letter and appears to be a note to Troup in support of Cobb's statements, written and signed by John Macpherson Berrien, Georgia state senator.</dc:description>
