Acc[oun]t [for services of] James Durouzeaux charged to the Indian department, 1786 Nov. 18 - 1786 Dec. 7 Creek Indians--Treaties Indian interpreters This is an expense account of James Durouzeaux for his services from May 18, 1785 to May 18, 1786, directed to the state of Georgia. The account includes Durouzeaux's salary as an interpreter for the Creek Nation, and his expenses for accompanying the Creeks at two treaties and visiting the Upper Creek towns. The account bears the approval and signature of George Handley, Inspector General and later Governor of Georgia (1788-1789), but a note on the back indicates that a portion of the account was eventually disregarded as an improper charge.
