[Letter] 1788 Apr. 23 [to Governor] George Handley / Peter Stubblefield Stubblefield, Peter Indians of North America--Claims against This document is a letter, dated April 23, 1788, from Peter Stubblefield, Commissioner of Issues, to George Handley, Governor of Georgia (1788-1789). Stubblefield writes that he has been unable to find the four men wounded by Indians in Washington, Wilkes County, Georgia, for whom he was to furnish provisions. He had expected to find them at a hospital in Washington, Georgia, but they had refused to come for treatment and had instead received supplies sent by a surgeon at the hospital. Document ID: tcc301.
