<dc:description>This document is a letter from Captain Jonas Fauche at Fort Gunn to Georgia Governor George Mathews (1787-1788, 1793-1796) in Augusta, dated November 4, 1795. Fauche informs Governor Mathews that he has recently received information from Spanish forces in East Florida. It is reported that East Florida has been invaded (though it is not clear by whom) and a Spanish officer, Colonel Howard (?), recently encamped near Fauche with a force including 200 regular troops, a number of Indians, 100 militia, and a company of Negro horsemen. Also included is a casualty report and information on the trial of Colonel Henry (?) Karr in Camden County, Georgia. Fauche refers to enclosed communications that are no longer attached.</dc:description>
