[Letter with military report] 1796 Aug. 5, Greenesborough [i.e., Greensboro, Georgia to] Governor [of Georgia] Jared Irwin, Louisville, [Georgia] / Adjutant General Jonas Fauche Fauche, Jonas Creek Indians--Treaties Creek Indians--Land tenure This document is a letter containing a military report written by Adjutant General Jonas Fauche to Governor of Georgia Jared Irwin (1796-1798), dated August 5, 1796. Fauche has directed the discharge or transfer of certain troops as ordered by Irwin and provides information regarding said troops. He also reports on the attitude of inhabitants in the Western frontiers of Georgia towards the recent failed treaty with the Creek Indians. He reflects that no blame is placed on the treaty commissioners, however, and predicts that no unauthorized settlements will take place in the land not ceded by the Creeks. Document ID: tcc367.
