Butler, temporary Secretary of War, to Governor William Schley (Governor of Georgia, 1835-1837) regarding a letter from General Jesup requesting a regiment of volunteers to serve in Florida. Butler writes that Jesup's letter does not explain whether or not arrangements have been made for transporting or outfitting these troops, and Butler wonders if Schley has made arrangements yet or if the help of Butler's department will be needed.
