Letter, 1818 May 16, Look-out Mountain, [Cherokee Nation ? to] William Rabun, Governor of Georgia, Milledgeville, [Georgia] / Joseph McMinn, Governor of Tennessee McMinn, Joseph, 1758-1824 Cherokee Indians--Government relations Boundaries Joseph McMinn, Governor of Tennessee (1815-1821), writes to Georgia Governor William Rabun (1817-1819) on May 16, 1818 concerning a disagreement with the Cherokees over the running of an unspecified boundary line. McMinn relates that he was traveling to Nickajack with several Tennessee commissioners to meet with commissioners from Georgia when they were delayed by official notification from unnamed Cherokee chiefs, who voiced protest against the opinion of the two states regarding the boundary. McMinn indicates that he intends to meet with the chiefs who signed the protest and persuade them to withdraw their objections. Document ID: tcc773.
