Militia This document contains two affidavits regarding the claim of Rachel Fuguson, widow of John Fuguson, who was killed during his service with the Augusta Volunteer Rangers while fighting the Creek Indians. The first statement, dated May 28, 1817 and signed by Rachel Fuguson and W. Barton, a Notary Public, states that John Fuguson left her and three children. The second statement, dated September 6, 1817 and signed by James Barton and Thomas C. Russell, a Justice of the Peace, states that enclosed affidavit (that of Mrs. Fuguson) is a true copy of the original affidavit sent to the U. S. war department. Document ID: tcc834.
