<dc:description>This document is a letter from General David B. Mitchell, U.S. Agent to the Creek Indians and former governor of Georgia (1809-1813, 1815-1817), to William Rabun, Governor of Georgia (1817-1819), dated December 15, 1817. Mitchell reports that two men were allegedly killed between Fort Perry (Marion County, Georgia) and Fort Gaines (Clay County, Georgia) by "hostile" Indians, but that he has ordered Creek leader General William McIntosh to investigate. Mitchell also informs Rabun that since the loss of Lieutenant Scott's company, the Seminoles and the Red Stick Creeks who have joined them have become bolder, but he doubts they will trouble the Georgia frontier as long as General Edmund Gaines maintains command at Fort Scott (Decatur County, Georgia).</dc:description>
