<dc:description>This letter, dated June 20, 1839, was written by William Holland Thomas to H. P. King at Indian Town. Thomas tells King that he has been delayed in returning home due to an investigation into the Cherokee claims under the treaty of 1835 by Commissioner of Indian Affairs T. Hartley Crawford. He asks King to convey several messages to family and friends and instructs him on managing the business. Also included in this document is a near duplicate of this message addressed to James H. Bryson in Murphy, NC.</dc:description>
