The following clip shows an advertisement sign for Smith Brothers' lunch counter located on the corner of West Broad and South Main Streets. West Broad Street was one of the hardest hit areas by the tornado on April 6, 1936. From the Gainesville Midland Railway depot, the tornado traveled up West Broad Street and across Maple and South Main Streets before entering the Public Square.
